Over 700 years in the making, Jujutsu is the simplest, yet most misunderstood of the Japanese martial arts. Literally translated as the "Gentle Technique" or Gentle Science of Combat, Jujutsu is not a sport. Regardless of what is promoted on television, video, or through sports marketing, true jujutsu is a combat science. There is no winning or losing. There is survival. Jujutsu is a combination of striking, kicking, weapons, grappling, throwing, choking, and ligament/bone destruction. Jujutsu should only be used in extreme cases of self defense, or defense of a loved one or innocent.
